OTHER RESOURCES

There are many helpful places on the net, with the work of some very hard working folks, which have put great sites together. If you want to learn more about CNC, and also Guitar making in general, I suggest the you visit some of these sites. I have either learned from these, or acquired products which made this processes described here feasible. Please drop me a note if you want to include some other sites here, or to let me know what you think about these (click on their names to enter).

Paint Your Own Guitar: Amazing! Excelent resource for achieving a factory finish using hardware store bought spray cans! Absolutely the best painting instructions I have seen!

CNC Zone: This is by far one of the largest online communites about CNC, and the process of building CNC machines at home. I can not describe to you the amount of information and knowledgeable people which are on that site. A really worth while effort to join the group and to start learning.

Project Guitar: This is a great community with an incredible amount of information about guitar building. There are many tutorials written by folks, which will help you to understand the process and science behind guitar building. Use the site to learn, and then apply what you learn to a CNC process.

Solsylva: So you want to make your own CNC machine? This is a great site which offers plans that will allow you to build a machine from items found at your local home goods store or hardware store. This is the first machine which I used to build my guitars, and it has worked absolultely great for me. The cost and knowledge that you will gain after going through the build process is invaluable! After learning on this machine, I build "The Stinger."

StewMac: This is a site which sells EVERYTHING you will need to build a guitar. From wood, to tools, to finishing, and instructional videos. Very comprehensive, and could be your one stop shop for all items guitar related (after Ebay offcourse :-) )

Warmoth: This is also a guitar shop, which will let you customize a body and neck, and then they will build and ship to you (where is the fun in that?). They do sell other items, and you might just want them to build a killer neck for you, for that new guitar you milled on your cnc router!

Luthier's Mercantile: This is another site which offers guitar building materials. Not nearly as comprehensive as stewmac, but they do offer some great woods.

MACH 3: This is THE software for controling a CNC machine with a computer or laptop. Created by ArtSoft. It is THE BEST and the one and only! Worth Every Nickel!!!

Xylotex: A very good CNC controller, and they do offer complete kits, including the motors. Will work great with MACH3. This is the controller I use on my router.

Mouser: If it is an electronic part you need, or enclosure, if mouser does not have it, no one does! They are a HUGE electronics marketplace, for just about every component and part you might need.
